Tunapo Escape
Kapiti Coast, Aotearoa New Zealand
A Tiny Escape with Infinite Views
Perched high above the Kapiti Coast, Tunapo Escape feels like the edge of the world. Two timber-clad pods open to a panorama of ocean, island, and distant peaks — a view so vast it hushes conversation. Designed by hosts Hannah and Chris on their family farm, the cabin balances minimalism with warmth: handmade ceramics, local art, and an outdoor bath perfectly placed for sunsets and stars. Days unfold slowly — breakfast on the deck, a walk along the Escarpment Track, or a quiet afternoon by the fire. Every detail feels personal, from homemade muesli to bubbles on arrival. “Tunapo” loosely translates to “night eel,” a nod to the land’s living waterways — fitting for a place that moves with nature’s rhythm. Simple, soulful, and spectacularly scenic, Tunapo invites you to pause, breathe, and look out forever.
